Make determines, automatically, which pieces of a large program need to be recompiled and issues the commands to recompile them.
Make installs the following:
make

install, ls, mv, rm, sleep, tr, uname
Diffutils: cmp
Gawk: gawk
GCC: cc, cc1, collect2, cpp0, gcc
Glibc: getconf
Grep: egrep, fgrep, grep
M4: m4
Make: make
Sed: sed
Texinfo: install-info, makeinfo
Prepare Make for compilation:
./configure --prefix=/usr |
Compile the package:
make |
This package has a test suite available which can perform a number of checks to ensure it built correctly. Should you choose to run it, the following command will do so:
make check |
And install the package:
make install |
