IBM 5223 WHEELPRINTER E MODEL 1 Announcement Letter Number 185-131 dated October 15, 1985 US - Last Revised on October 15, 1985 Brief Description of Announcement, Charges, and Availability The 5223 Wheelprinter E model 1 is a letter quality impact printer that attaches to IBM Personal Computers (4860, 5150, 5155, 5160, 5170, 5271, 5273, 5371, 5373) via their parallel interfaces, and to non-IBM personal computers with a compatible IBM Personal Computer parallel interface. It prints at a burst speed of 16 characters per second. A sheetfeed and pinwheel form feeder are optional features. It will meet the needs of users having the following requirements: o Letter quality word processing applications o Business or personal use o Automatic cut sheet feed (optional) o Continuous forms feed printing (optional) o Normal business applications (13.2 inch writing line) An optional Sheetfeed and optional Pinwheel Form Feeder permit the user to choose between manually-fed cut sheets, continuous forms, or automatically-fed cut sheets. The printer attaches to the parallel interface on IBM Personal Computers via an IBM Personal Computer Printer Attach Cable (#5612). Attachment to a non-IBM personal computer may require a different cable. The base model includes a Courier 10 IBM Cartridge Printwheel II, one IBM EASYSTRIKE(TM) Multipurpose Ribbon cassette, and one accessory kit containing the IBM Wheelprinter E Guide-To-Operations, a line cord, a paper table, and a tension clip for use with the optional Pinwheel Form Feeder. CONSIDERATIONS AND LIMITATIONS CONTINUOUS FORMS: Use of continuous paper without the pinwheel forms feed feature is not recommended. Both edges of the pinfeed forms must be threaded. PAPER SPECIFICATIONS: Maximum paper width is 381 mm (15"). Maximum pin-to-pin width for continuous forms is 368 mm (14.5"). Maximum print-line width is 335 mm (13.2"). SINGLE SHEETFEED: Single sheet feed is by hand insertion, unless the optional automatic sheetfeed feature is used. ATTACHMENT CABLE: Attachment to non-IBM products may require other than the IBM Personal Computer Printer Attach Cable (#5612). SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL User management is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security controls, for administrative procedures, and for appropriate controls in application systems. WARRANTY SERVICE: Customer Carry-In Exchange service is provided during the warranty period. Warranty service offerings are described in the Agreement for Purchase of IBM Machines (Z120-2892) and the Amendment for IBM Service/Exchange Center Services (Z125-3385-01).
