                  net.sourceforge.jpcap build information

  Environment

o Before you build the project you must have installed and in your path

      o JDK1.2+
      o gmake

o The script scripts/env_jpcap is an example environment setup script.
A typical environment setup sequence would look something like:

        # setup java environment
        export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jdk1.3
        export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH
        export CLASSPATH=$JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/rt.jar

        # setup your jpcap development environment
        . ~/YOUR_WORKSPACE/sourceforge/jpcap/scripts/env_jpcap

The env_jpcap contains a PROJECT_HOME environment variable which
you must edit to point to your jpcap cvs workspace.

o Although the project compiles and runs under JDK1.2, JDK1.3.1 is highly
recommended. (1.3.0_02 is ok, but isn't very stable on Linux.)
In general, the performance of the 1.3 VM is superior to 1.2.
The difference is especially noticable in jpcap when using
      the graphical component of net.sourceforge.jpcap.client.CaptureTool
      to visualize network traffic.

The project has also been tested with the JDK1.4 beta and works fine.
