Feasible Goals for the December Prototype (Jim O'Dell) PROPOSAL: This Proposal puts forth a set of goals which we expect to accomplish in delivering a discrete component prototype version of the Falcon Processor product on December 30, 1988. Hardware Requirements of the Prototype: A GigaMos Lambda computer with 1/2" tape drive. A NuBus extender card for the Lambda. A Macintosh II computer with 1 MB memory An Apple compatible video card and monitor A Macintosh II extended keyboard. An Apple ethernet board.(probably not) A 350 MB disk drive 2 NuBus coupler sets, with cabling and connectors. Card cage and cabinet (Mac-Mate) to hold the Falcon processor. A Falcon board set which includes processor (with Weitek floating point chip), and memory card (how much memory do we think we'll need?). Software Requirements of the December Discrete Component Prototype: A port of the Montreal KMAC software from the Lambda to the Falcon. Development software for the Lambda computer (including cross compiler). Prototype Functionality: Functioning screen, keyboard, mouse and file system interfaces. All Gabriel benchmarks running. Existence of a timing routine to time the benchmarks. Prototype Functionality Missing (Expected to be Present in the Final Product) Cross Compiler (Will be running on Lambda) Flavors Stack Groups Virtual memory New Lambda cold load Booting from the Macintosh Garbage Collector Stack frame overflow IMPLEMENTATION: This Proposal, being of a somewhat different scope and nature than most, requires a description of what it would mean for this Proposal to pass. In Accepting this Proposal, each member of the GigaMos development team agrees to undertake all reasonable efforts to ensure that each of the specified Functionalities exists as of the December delivery date.
