IMPORTANT

This is a BETA version of the Cult3D plugin. This means that it
may contain bugs. Use at own risk. Updates will appear on
http://www.cult3d.com/.

Requirements: You need Netscape 4.07 or higher.

INSTALLING

Just run the enclosed install script (install.sh) and follow the
instructions. In most cases you only have to press return a few
times. If for some reason the script doesn't work or you would like to
install the plugin by hand, you should copy or move the cult3d
subdirectory to netscape's plugin directory.

If you're running as root, you may install the plug-in globally. This
depends on where netscape is installed. For instance, if the netscape
dir is called /usr/local/netscape, you should put the cult3d directory
in /usr/local/netscape/plugins/.

If you're runnning as a normal user, you should put the directory in
~/.netscape/plugins/.

After installing the files you should restart Netscape. Try out the
test gallery on http://www.cult3d.com/.

TROUBLESHOOTING

So, it doesn't work? Read on.

If netscape crashes or hangs please contact http://www.cult3d.com/support/
with details about your system configuration and we will try to solve
the problem.

If you get a dialog box saying that netscape "A plugin for the mime
type application/x-cult3d-object was not found." it might be that your
netscape is not correctly installed. In particular, some Linux
distributions use a symlinked netscape and this may not work unless
you set the environment variables MOZILLA_HOME or NPX_PLUGIN_PATH.
Check out the netscape README for more information.

If you get a dialog box saying that netscape "A plugin for the
mime type text/plain was not found." (or anything other than
"application/x-cult3d-object") then it is probably due to a
misconfigured webserver. Try some objects on another server instead.

You can also try to manually inform Netscape to use the correct
plugin. (Select 'Preferences...' under the 'Edit' menu in Netscape,
click on 'Navigator' to reveal further options, click on
Applications'. Click 'New...' and enter 'application/x-Cult3D-object'
in the 'MIMEType'-field. This should reveal the Cult3D plugin name
and make the plugin-radio-button selectable. Click it. If Netscape
asks if it should use the 'plugin specified description and
suffixes', click 'Yes'. Close the dialogues by clicking 'OK'.
There you go!)

KNOWN PROBLEMS, BUGS, TO-DO'S, ETC

* There is no sound support on Solaris.

* No multithreading support yet. So netscape will sometimes behave
slow or appear to hang for a few seconds when loading an object.

* Objects that checks the time through java can get the wrong time.
It seems that netscapes Java implementation is rather confused
  about timezones?

If the plugin doesn't work at all, or crashes, please first make
sure that your system is fulfilling the requirements above and
that the plugin is installed correctly. If you still encounter
problems, feel free to contact us at http://www.cult3d.com/support/.
